Digital Poverty
Digital Poverty is a Health Inequality
Life in modern Britain depends on digital connectivity. For people facing serious illness, recovering from addiction, escaping abuse, or navigating financial hardship, being cut off from that connectivity compounds an already difficult experience.
Why This Matters
Staying in contact with family, managing medical appointments, and accessing vital services online can make a profound difference to a person’s wellbeing and recovery during serious illness.
Digital poverty, not having access to a phone, data, or the skills to use them, falls hardest on people who are already vulnerable: those managing a serious diagnosis, on a low income, or isolated from support networks.
Our Position
SimpalUK believes that connectivity during serious illness is not a luxury. It is a basic need, on the same footing as heating or food. We exist to close that gap directly, one SIM card and one device at a time.
