A patient receiving palliative care was being chased for phone bills she couldn’t afford, at a time when she should never have had to worry about money. Her husband told us the strain was so great that she’d considered using money set aside for her own funeral to pay it.
We got in touch with SimpalUK, who helped the family challenge the charges and resolve the debt — and arranged a SIM card so she could keep in touch with her family while she was an inpatient, and with her clinical team once she was discharged home.
After she passed away, her husband visited the ward to say thank you. He told us how much it had meant, at the hardest time of their lives, that someone had been able to help.
